I would suggest a Bissell, Powerforce.Bagless Vacuum.I’ve had one for 3 years,works great.Cost was $88.at Walmart.
I bought a Bissell Cleanview Bagless at Kmart about 5 years ago for about $80. I love it! The $80 plus about $2.50 for replacement belts is all I’ve had to spend on it. It sucks great and has a hose and attachments for small jobs.
But, my favorite is the canister vacuum, Whispertone, from Sears which runs for about $200. The Whispertone lasted for about 9 years, with alot of abuse, and it was extremely versatile.

Hoover dust manager, excellent price, super vacuum. great for pet hair and dust. Just remember to wash the filters in warm soapy water once a month.
Far better value for money than a Dyson.
If price is no object then I would go with an Oreck. If you’re on a budget, as many of us are, I bought a bagless upright Dirt Devil at Wal-Mart for 39.99

i just bought a bissell bag less 12 amp and it’ll suck the carpet up.
not really but i think it’s great.cost around $50.
