Can You Use Vacuum Bags Made For Other Brands?

I don’t want to drive all the way to Sears & was wondering if I could use vacuum bags made for Hoover or another brand in my Kenmore upright vacuum? They look the same, its just hard to find these Kenmore bags locally. Anyone have any success with bags made for other brand vacuums?

With a pair of scissors and duct tape, anything is possible! :D I have a kirby and I ran out of the bags…you have to go to “kirby store” to get the bags for the vacuum. It was the weekend so of course they were closed. I bought a bag at Walmart and “altered” the hole and duct taped it on to make sure it wouldn’t blow off when I turned on the vacuum. It worked! Another option (but much more dirty) is to cut open the bag you already have and remove all the dirt and tape the bag up with the duct tape. Use it again…for when you’re feeling really cheap and a little more on the “adventurous” side…though I don’t suggest this route! Good luck!

Normally no. The manufactures of the vacuums make money on selling their bags. So I don’t know of any universal vacuum bags.
