Im really getting into astronomy now and I still dont understand the “vacuum of space”. I hear that if you were to go outside in space without a space suit, you would die (not because you cant breathe, but because of the “vacuum”.) What exactly does this vacuum do? What are its effects on the human body? Is it like an actual vacuum that we use here on earth?

I have already tried to vacuum the house with a new vacuum on a new wall to wall carpet but the new carpet continues to develop little balls of carpet fluff or lint. The first time I vacuumed the carpet the vacuum was compacted with the lint and then wasn’t able to get any more things out of the carpet.
Is there something that I need to do with a new carpet? is there a tool used to clean up the carpet lint? Should I use a different setting to vacuum the carpet? Is there a vacuum rating I need to get the carpet clean?
